Reversed Life Reversed Style

Because a book about feeling backward would be the one that would catch me off-guard.

Reversed Life was a book I actually had a little challenge writing and getting a clear direction of what it was meant to be. The original idea is exactly what I intended to go with. Our main character Issac Cassi doesn't feel normal. With everything being backward it would only be natural for the book to be read from right to left. Only once you reach the where the book starts does he feel normal... or does he? (On a side note it felt right having his last name being his first name reversed.) Originally I used myself as a decent amount of inspiration. Growing up learning bed was how to figure out the difference between b's and d's. Not knowing my left hand from my right. Things that took me longer to figure out than they should have, but as the story continued he did become his own character.

Once I had a draft Pascha and I talked over the design of the book. I don't entirely recall how it happened but having Issac Cassi in coloured pencil compared to everything else in felts to
represent not fitting in to his environment just felt right.

It's also a nice nod to our past projects of Green Pea series and an experimenting with blending different styles together like Never Give Up... Hope. One key experiment we used in this book is applying squint paper on the front and on one interior page. It's a test run for an up coming picture book that's yet to be fully realized. That is a talk for another time.
What took me off guard is I didn't realize this book was finished. It was formatted, bar code prepared, and the cover set up. I've been so preoccupied with other picture books and Under The Shield that it sort of disappeared in to pending release list.
For those that feel backward and not fitting in this story is just saying that's all right. Just because you think different doesn't necessarily mean something is wrong. It just means you are different and you have different struggles.
(My opinion is that not a single person fits into society. It's just that some just fixate how they are different to those around them. I don't believe it's should be used as a protective shield or a defense in an argument nor does it need to be addressed like some sort of credentials but that's just my opinion.)
Reversed Life was created to encourage those that just seem to be struggling in life, school, or in general. I hope you you like and enjoy this unique style of what most people struggle with.

Thank you for your time.
