Barbara Daum is a retired school teacher, a canoeist, gardener and since retirement, a quilter. Although she has always loved to write, this is her first novel. In between writing and editing several cookbooks, family histories and memoirs, she has been working on Vruise mission, a story set on a cruise ship sailing north to Alaska through the Inside Passage. An avid reader Barbara enjoys a variety of books but it is personal stories that fascinate her the most. Barbara is married to Peter, and together they love to spend time in the wilderness, camping and canoeing. They have 3 grown children and 4 grandchildren.

Elena Peterson's police detective husband has recently passed away and Elena is desperate to find meaning in her life, so when her husband's former partner - Detective Jack Gallagher asks if she would consider taking part in a sting operation designed to flush out con artists on cruise ships she decides that this would be a way of carrying on her husband's crime fighting legacy.

However, her training as an undercover rich widow hasn't totally prepared her for the many dangers that await her at the hands of criminals who are adept at preying on rich lonely women on cruise ships.
She is also no prepared for the growing attraction between her and Jack. Could their unspoken feelings for each other jeopardize the mission? Will Elena be able to concentrate on catching the criminals or even just staying alive?
